MISSION STATEMENT
Soaring As Eagles is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to empower families of Title 1 schools through personal, emotional, educational, and professional development.

Our History!

Soaring As Eagles began in 2009 with a vision to impact the lives of young people and their families. We have had the opportunity to work with family focus groups including teen parents and at risk youth. We have addressed topics such as mental health, drugs, business, gangs, and academic success with the youth in our community. We have also provided after school tutoring for middle schoolers.

In 2014, we received our non profit status with the state of North Carolina. We began an annual Family Fun Day with live entertainment, activities, prizes, ventors and food. We’ve sponsored fashion shows for the youth in our community and used it as an avenue to teach etiquette. Soaring As Eagles has now expanded to empowering families of Title 1 schools through personal, emotional, educational, and professional development. We believe that it’s important to reach the entire family. In most Title 1 schools, there are compounding layers, barriers, and issues of trauma that we must address. This population of low economic socio status is at risk families with extremely high ACE (adverse childhood experiences) which has a high correlation to negative behaviors as an adult. We aim to assist families with programs and resources that will increase educational levels, financial literacy, self-esteem, and hope.

In 2019, we launched our first parent empowerment program starting in the Creekwood South community and then expanding to Houston Moore Terrace. We have now extended our parent "Lunch & Learn" to the guardians and caregivers of all of our programs. These sessions consist of financial literacy classes, fostering bridges training in addition to parenting classes. Our Lunch and Learn is focused on helping parents with the challenges they face on an everyday basis. We use Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) which is an evidence based program which increases parents’ confidence and competence in managing behavioral problems, reducing stress, and helps to create a stable and supportive learning environment. We found it vital to include financial literacy and job readiness skills. Our goal is to equip families to be successful in every area of their lives.

In 2019, we also began Saturday Academy’s. It's purpose is to assist third, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders with strategies for the End of Grade testing in the subjects of reading and math. This is a 1:1 student / tutor ratio program to give undivided attention to the specific needs of students. In addition to serving a hot breakfast our intermission involves a “brain break” with arts integration and stress management techniques.
In 2021, we created Pre-K JumpStart as our way of helping the 3-5 year old babies be prepared for the structured educational environment that many have not been accustomed to and get a jumpstart on life. This program is specifically for three to five year olds who are entering pre-K and kindergarten. In addition to serving a hot breakfast, our experienced educators teach and observe not only academics, but social and emotional skills to help on their educational journey.

In 2021, it was an honor for Soaring As Eagles to receive the NC Child Community Voices Award. This award recognizes advocates in the community who have brought tremendous change for children and youth because of their voices and their efforts.

Due to the violence in our community, Inspired Minds was born 2022. This is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) program that explores creative opportunities for the successful future of 5th - 12th graders. Our explorations include financial literacy, robotics, creative writing, forensics, music, filming, outdoor adventures, and more. This program also has a mentorship component which offers our youth social and relationship building skills.
